Blade: 32" T-back, hollow/sabre-ground, featuring Twist, Feather, and Gordian Twist damascus steel
Hilt: 6" stabilized Hawaiian curly koa, 18k gold, 1800 layer damascus steel, and gold-plated bronze

This sword took me five years to make. The blade features extremely complex damascus steel at a scale that makes the technical challenges all the more difficult; because the form of the blade and the boundaries between the pattern flow together, a single errant hammer blow during the forging could have caused the success of the project to collapse.

The sword is a fusion of styles, including the Turkish yataghan, and the Afghan Khyber knife. One of its more distinctive features is the cross section of the blade. The T-back offers a combination of rigidity and lightness while also affording a prime canvas for embellishment; the spine has two fullers and is file-worked along its entire length. Beneath the flared T spine, there is a 1/2" fuller, a 1/8" fuller, and a 10" hollow grind that breaks crisply into a convex edge just as the damascus pattern shifts from Feather to Twist.
