The Gladius Hispaniensis is one of the earliest typologies of the famed Roman gladius. This variant hails from the Iberian peninsula and is a fusion of early Roman styling with the Celt-Iberian swords the Romans encountered on the battlefield. My rendition features a gracefully waisted blade that flares gently before diving to an aggressive reinfoced point. This sword feels lively and purposeful in the hand. I will definitely explore this design further.
The scabbard features a nine-layer wooden core with a velvet lining, cased in supple, sturdy leather.
