As with many of my legacy projects, this piece is a fusion of elements from different cultures. The initial design was actually based on my own take on the Nepalese kukri, matched to a gestural hilt inspired by Arabian and Turkish swords. I think of it as a "Nepalese cavalry sabre" (which is not a real thing), but a collector recently showed me a sword he owns that bears some striking similarity. It is a powerful yataghan mounted with a kilij-style hilt.

At any rate, this is a large and imposing single-handed sword, but it is still surprisingly agile and wieldable. This is largely on account of the blade's cross section, which features a compound-radius recurved hollow grind into a stout convex edge.
