Custom Damascus Wakizashi Sword, a 5K Layer Twist Blade

Fresh off the bench. This is a wakizashi I just completed featuring a ~22” blade in 5,832 layer high carbon gordian core twist damascus with fittings in fine silver and damascus steel. The grip is solid mammoth ivory with twelve lapis lazuli cabochons in silver bezels. The saya (scabbard) is basswood and ivory, with an exceptional lacquer job by Matt at Venier Forge who really knocked it out of the park.

About The Author

Zack Jonas was born and raised in Massachusetts in the 1980’s and is still a New Englander today. With his growing love for art over the years, he took an introductory bladesmithing class at MASSart. It was there that he learned one of his most valuable lessons, which is that everyone has some insight worth learning. Today, he is a full-time bladesmith and feels incredibly fortunate to have found his calling.
