“Metastrophe” is a 2026 collaboration between myself and Orin Pacht Designs. This diminutive axe-form piece is deliberately much more art than tool. The approximate 6” head is 1800 layer high carbon damascus steel, set with garnet and meteorite in silver. The approximate 7” haft is African blackwood, with a mammoth ivory wedge. This one was fun to make.
Another piece that is similar is “Unstoppable”, which was a collaboration with Wanderer Metalworks.

Zack Jonas was born and raised in Massachusetts in the 1980’s and is still a New Englander today. With his growing love for art over the years, he took an introductory bladesmithing class at MASSart. It was there that he learned one of his most valuable lessons, which is that everyone has some insight worth learning.
