Description
This set represents a highlight of my career. My customer was a gentleman with five children. He gave me one word to describe each of their personalities, and I designed one knife to match each individual personality. They had to reflect his children’s individuality, but also to be recognizable as members of the same family. I chose the title “Legao de Acero,” which translates from Spanish to “Legacy of Steel” because my customer envisioned this set as part of the legacy he will one day leave his children.
The blades all began as one billet of damascus steel, and then I separated it into five pieces and patterned each one individually to suit the design of the given knife and personality. The handles are all exhibition grad Arizona Ironwood Burl, with nickel silver and micarta fittings.
I loved the challenge of this commission, and would LOVE to do more work with a philosophical component like this.
